NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Two people have been arrested in connection with a recent tailgate theft.

• Suspects face misdemeanor and felony charges
• Five tailgates found in back of car
• All tailgates from Ford F250 Super Duty trucks

Early Friday morning, New Braunfels police spotted a car that matched the description of a suspect vehicle from the recent theft. The same vehicle had also been called in earlier in the morning as a suspicious vehicle in the Gruene area.

Police discovered a total of five tailgates in the back of the car, all of which were from Ford F250 Super Duty trucks. Officers also recovered tools and masks that the suspects may have used. Tiffany Harris, 36, of San Antonio, and Christopher Harris, 34, also of San Antonio, were taken into custody and transported to the Comal County Jail.

Both suspects have been charged with burglary of a vehicle and theft of property. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.

The New Braunfels Police Department is reminding pickup truck drivers that tailgate thefts are on the rise and they should take steps to avoid becoming a victim. Police recommend drivers park in well-lit areas, use tailgate locks on their trucks, and use surveillance systems outside their homes.
