AUSTIN, Texas – A man was found dead in a downtown Austin creek Friday morning.

The body was located around 8:37 a.m. in the 800 block of W 6th Street in Shoal Creek.

Austin/Travis County EMS, police, and firefighters were called to the scene to recover the body.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Due to the condition and the location of the body, police are not able to verify the age or race of the deceased person.

It is unclear if police suspect foul play led to the man's death, but homicide detectives are conducting the investigation. Nearby businesses have been made aware of the investigation.
