SAN ANTONIO – One of H-E-B‘s largest holiday food donations will include gifting nine trailer loads of turkeys to food banks throughout Texas, providing more than 450,000 servings to families in need during the holiday season.

The company held an event at the San Antonio Food Bank on Wednesday where thousands of turkeys were unloaded from trucks.

Over the coming days, trailers full of turkeys will be distributed to food banks throughout the state. In total, more than 225,000 pounds of turkey will be donated to families in need.

The effort is part of the H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program, which works year‑round to raise awareness and battle hunger in Texas and Mexico.

In 2017, H‑E‑B donated more than 33.2 million pounds of food to Texas and Mexico food banks, to equal over 24 million meals.
