AUSTIN, Texas— Austin Police are investigating a homicide in North Austin.

According to police, on Tuesday, November 13, at approximately 2:48 p.m., officers received a call that a man was shot and lying in the 4th floor hallway of the WoodSpring Suites. 

When they arrived, they located a Hispanic male, with a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began life saving measures until Austin Fire and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived to take over. He was then taken to the hospital.

At 3:42 p.m., police were notified that the victim, who possibly goes by the name of Chato, died from his injuries.

The Travis County Medical Examiner has conducted an autopsy and ruled his death a homicide.

Police believe the victim was targeted for a specific reason. There are no indications of public threat in relation to this incident. 

Assistance is needed in identifying the victim. Detectives have developed a suspect and are working on those leads.
