AUSTIN, Texas -- Not only do residents near last week's house explosion have to mourn the loss of a neighbor, they're still dealing with the lasting effects of the incident.

• Explosion took place Saturday, October 27 
• One person was killed

Crews from Texas Gas Services have been working throughout the neighborhood ever since the explosion.

They've had traffic around the Stoneleigh, Bendridge intersection blocked in all directions. Crews have also  been checking for problems with neighboring gas pipes. One family had their gas turned off on Saturday after Texas Gas Service said they found a leak. Neighbors said that news is hard to hear after last week's tragic accident.

"He gets more nervous, around the house a little bit, and that's with me too. We don't turn on the gas anymore. Before we do that we ask ‘Who is going to do something?’ Or we just buy food from outside," said Maria Vargas.

Texas Gas Service said a third party caused the damage to the gas pipe that sparked the explosion. An investigation is underway by a third party.
