LAGO VISTA, Texas -- Residents in Lago Vista are joining together to collect donations for victims of recent floods in the area.

• Donations can be dropped off at Casa Mexico
• Toiletries and cleaning supplies are most needed

"People are just so overwhelmed and shocked," said resident Selima Harbison.

Harbison is working with her neighbors to organize toiletries and cleaning supplies, as they wait for the water to recede.

"This is just doing what Lago does. We are a community that loves each other and if one of us is impacted by a negative experience, we are all going to come together and try to figure a way out," said Harbison.

Councilman Dick Weatherly said it has been tough to see the devastation in the area.

"There's real no way to describe what that feels like when you meet these people. Homes flooded, docks and boats and everything down the lake," said Weatherly.

He worries that if rain continues, things will get worse before it gets better.

"We are still in a crisis state because there are predictions of heavy rains next week. It's something that's going to be lasting for weeks,” said Weatherly.

Donations can be dropped off at Casa Mexico at 7610 Lohman Ford Rd. in Lago Vista. They are asking for all kinds of toiletries and cleaning supplies like bleach, sponges, and gloves.
