PINEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA – A man is in custody in connection to Pineville's first homicide in three years.

• A man is in custody in connection to a Pineville shooting.
• It is the town's first homicide in three years.
• Police believe the shooter and victim knew each other. 

He's suspected of shooting another man to death last night on Pine Acres Avenue.

Police believe the men weren't strangers.

"These two did know each other. They were acquaintances, but they were not friends. We do believe this was not random,” said Lt. Corey Copley.

Police say the shooter was also shot.

Neither of their names have been released.
