AUSTIN, Texas – The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is warning Formula 1 attendees that potential flooding could impact routes to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend.

If the Lower Colorado River Authority decides to open more floodgates at the Mansfield Dam the water flow could close roads in the Austin area.

The Colorado River water levels could rise even higher if the gates are opened, which would impact roadways leading to COTA.

Travis County deputies will be at the race directing traffic and keeping an eye on closed roadways.

Drivers are reminded that it is illegal to drive around barricades at low water crossings.
