ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — It was another hot day across the area due to the wind from the east keeping our sea breeze pinned at the coast, not allowing any cooling effect from the Gulf of Mexico.

  • Still hot for now
  • Low rain chance
  • Changes Sunday onward

Skies will go from partly cloudy to mostly clear this evening. There have been a couple of tiny showers drifting by quickly into the gulf, but they’re few and far between, so consider yourself very lucky if you get one.

Otherwise it’s mainly dry, which isn’t helping to cool us down.

Morning lows will be in the low to mid 70s under mostly clear skies.

Thursday will be another hot day, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and highs topping out in the low 90s.

The east breeze will again keep our sea breeze pinned at the beach and not delivering any cooling relief. There might be a shower or two passing through the area, but they will quickly pass by and move west into the gulf.

Friday will be very similar, with a 20 percent chance of a late day shower.

Saturday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with only a 10 percent chance of a late day shower and highs near 90.

Sunday will feature more clouds as a weak cold front slips into the area. The rain chance, however, will still be low as there won’t be a lot of moisture to work with.

Highs will drop slightly into the mid 80s, so at least that will be a welcome relief.

It appears next week will be a little more active with the front stalling on top of us. That will provide for more clouds and some scattered rain chances, especially from Tuesday through Thursday. That will help to keep our temperatures lower.
