FREDERICKSBURG, Texas — The Fredericksburg Police Department arrested a man who they beleived strangled his ex-girlfriend.

According to police, on Monday, October 15, family members of, 22-year-old Paola Lizzethe Guzman Aguilar found her in her apartment in the 400 Block of East Walnut. She was unresponsive.

EMS and Police were called to the scene and transported Aguilar to the Hill Country Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Aguilar’s three year old child was also found at the home, but was found to be in good health and released to her’s grandparents after being checked by staff at the hospital.

A preliminary investigation at the residence revealed a possible struggle had occurred. During the investigation police learned Aguilar’s family was suspicious of a possible estranged boyfriend. Family advised that the two had recently broken off relations. The boyfriend was identified as 21-year-old Ramiro Garcia Flores.

Police say, on Tuesday, October 16, Flores made contact with a third party in Atascosa County and confessed to strangulating Aguilar. The third party contacted the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department who responded to their location and took Flores into custody. He again recounted the incident to investigators with the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department and confessed to strangulating Aguilar and leaving the child at the scene.

The Fredericksburg Police Department drafted an arrest warrant for Flores charging him with murder, a first-degree felony. Justice of the Peace Carl Schoessow set Flores's bond at $1 million.

Aguilar’s body was sent to chief medical examiner’s office. Results of the autopsy and toxicology are pending.
