LEANDER, Texas — Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody says a man has confessed to killing who they believe is the man's cousin in Leander Saturday morning.

  • Sheriff's office tracks him down at a residence in Live Oak
  • Vickers confesses and is arrested

The sheriff's office arrested 34-year-old Jessie Vickers and charged him with the murder of 28-year-old Fredrick John Goodrow.

According to the sheriff's office, the incident happened outside a residence that was having some type of gathering in the 4300 block of Red Oak Lane.

Chody says Goodrow walked out of that home after getting into some sort of disturbance with Vickers. The suspect then also walked out, got into his vehicle, and struck the victim. The man then turned around, ran over the victim a second time, and appeared to attempt to make a third pass at him.

Authorities say another person tried to protect the victim by laying on top of him, but the victim later died.

The suspect fled, but was later apprehended at a residence on Live Oak. He is now in the Williamson County Jail.

"He did confess to the murder,” Chody said. “He knows that he hit the victim and he seems to be intoxicated and that's all the information we have at this time."
