AUSTIN, Texas – An Austin brewing company has released a beer with a taste of fall paying homage to a classic horror movie.

Independence Brewing Co. has released a pumpkin-infused beer as their ode to autumn. The beer is named “Cap’n Howdy” after the demonic presence that possesses a young girl in the horror movie, The Exorcist.

Brewer Jonathan Barraza created the seasonal beer “to make a beer with pumpkin, not a pumpkin spice latte with beer.”

The beer’s brewing process begins with roasting sugar-coated pumpkins and blending in English malt to simulate the flavor of pumpkin pie. Earthy hops are then added to offset the pie taste with a little bitterness.

Barraza said the spicy, yet sweet beer “will possess all who dare consume it.”
