AUSTIN, Texas – Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that left one man dead in southeast Austin.

Around 8:26 p.m. Thursday night police were called to the Concord Apartments on Bluff Springs Road. The 911 caller said her roommate had been shot.

When police and Austin/Travis County EMS arrived they found 30-year-old Matthew Fernander with trauma to his body. Paramedics transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:59 p.m.

“We believed that it possibly started in the hallway and we found the male inside the apartment,” said Austin police officer Bino Cadenas.

According to the investigators, the apartment has a lot of surveillance cameras that they will review.

At this time no one is in custody. Anyone with information was asked to call 911.
