AUSTIN, Texas – The Central Health board said insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act will continue to get funding.
• Vote reverses the board’s Sept. 12 vote to cap funding for Sendero
• Plan is publicly funded by Travis County
• Covers 24,000 Central Texans
The Central Health Board of Managers voted to allocate $26 million for Sendero Health Plans on Saturday.
The vote allows its nonprofit health insurance company to stay in business for at least another year and reverses the board’s Sept. 12 vote to cap funding for Sendero. If the earlier vote had not been reversed, it would likely have led to Sendero’s exit from the insurance market by 2020.
The plan is publicly funded by Travis County and covers 24,000 Central Texans. The Travis County Commissioners Court is expected to vote on Central Health’s budget this coming Tuesday, including funding for Sendero.
