AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man and several others were shot in North Austin.

According to police, the shooting happened on Rutland Drive Sunday around 4 a.m.

Austin 911 received multiple calls of shots fired at the Paris Hookah Lounge. Callers reported multiple people struck by the gunfire. Multiple first responders arrived at the scene. Officers learned the lounge was near capacity when the gunfire started. Three people inside the building were hit by the gunfire fired from outside of the lounge.

Authorities said there were three victims, but only one died. The victim who dies has been identified as 18-year-old Luis Alberto Rodriguez Tamayo.

Police say the other victims have non life-threatening injuries and are expected to be OK.

The preliminary investigation appears to indicate it was a drive-by shooting. Police are asking for anyone with information or video of the incident to contact them as soon as possible. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible.
