AUSTIN, Texas -- Three men at the same senior living community served in the same war.

Decades later, they're getting ready for a special trip honoring their service.

George Walker, 91, is one of those veterans going to Washington D.C.

"We're looking forward to it, very much,"Walker said.

The three gentlemen all live at Buckner Villas, a senior living center in Austin, and are all World War II veterans.

For the first time, they're going to see the World War II memorial in DC together thanks to Honor Flight Austin.

"I never saw the World War II monument because it wasn't built when I was there," Herb Witzel, a WWII vet said. "So I'm looking forward to go up there to see what it was. I'd like to see it in reality instead of in pictures and experience it."

"World War II was a big war, I'm anxious to see how they handle it because there's a lot to cover there," 93-year-old veteran David Moore said.

Moore served nearly three decades in the military, which he says, was the highlight of his life.

"I would not swap it for anything, if I had to do it all over again I'd stay in the army another 30 years if I could," Moore said.

For Walker, the chance to visit the memorial has a deeper meaning.

"I have two cousins that were killed in World War II," Walker explained. "If there is a monument or something with their names on it, I'll try to find that."
