CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte Hornets owner and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan is donating $2 million to organizations helping with Florence relief efforts.

  • Michael Jordan donates $2 million to Florence relief
  • Half will go to American Red Cross
  • The other half will go to the Foundation for the Carolinas' Hurricane Florence response fund

The donation will be split between the American Red Cross and the Foundation for the Carolinas' Hurricane Florence response fund.

Jordan's Hornets and NBA merchandising partner fanatics have designed a special T-shirt, "Carolina Strong," with 100 percent of the sales proceeds going to the Foundation for the Carolinas.

On Friday, more than 100 members of the Hornets organization will partner with Food Lion to pack food boxes at Second Harvest Food Bank of the Metrolina, to send to Florence-impacted areas.
