ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The Round Rock Express baseball team on Monday announced that after eight years of affiliation with the Texas Rangers, it is seeking a new affiliation.

The Express had been the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers since 2011.

In the those eight years as a Texas Rangers affiliate, the Express posted a 579-560 overall record. The team captured the American Southern Division Championship in 2011 and came within one win of the 2015 Pacific Coast League Championship.

“The relationship that we’ve developed, both professionally and personally, with the Texas Rangers over the last eight years has truly been an honor for our organization,” said Chris Almendarez, president of the Round Rock Express.

No timetable for an announcement concerning a new affiliation was immediately released.
