PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- The Pflugerville community gathered at the Pfield Saturday to raise money for a local girl dealing with a rare condition.

It’s been a few weeks since Camryn Anderson, 9, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. She's in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.

Camryn's family just found out her brother is not a match.

"Me being out here has been really hard. It's my first time being away from her for extended period of time. Of course, I want him to be a match, but then the other part of me doesn't want to put him through something as well,” Kimberly Anderson, Camryn's mother.

The family is now depending on the generosity of others. The Pflugerville Police Department helped organize the fundraising event. By Noon, more than 1,200 barbecue plates were sold. Families showed their support by buying T-shirts and writing letters to Camryn.

Bianca Hernandez and her daughter, Yasmin, traveled from Georgetown to support the family. Yasmin was diagnosed with the same condition in 2015. She successfully had a bone marrow transplant and is alive and well.

"I really want Camryn's mom to know that she's not alone through this. I know through the same trials and tribulations I went through with my daughter to keep the hope, just believe that her daughter is going to find that match," said Hernandez.

Camryn was too sick to be around large crowds of people, but has been watching all the support from her TV.

"She is more happy that more people are just reaching out to others that have this same disorder as her," said Anderson.
