DALLAS – The man shot and killed by a Dallas police officer will be laid to rest on Thursday.

The service for 26-year-old Botham Jean is at a Dallas Church. Officer Amber Guyger, 30, is accused of killing Jean while off-duty last week.

According to an affidavit, Guyger said she walked into the wrong apartment thinking it was hers and that Jean was a burglar. She has been charged with manslaughter.

Family and friends remember Jean as a caring person and a devout Christian. Jean’s family called for Guyger’s arrest after she remained free for days after he was fatally shot.

The funeral starts at noon and will be live streamed.

The Associated Press reports that protests took place in Dallas on Monday and Wednesday where they chanted “no justice, no peace.”

“Botham did everything with passion ... God gave me an angel,” said Jean's mother, Allison Jean, at a prayer vigil last weekend reported by the Associated Press.
