TEXAS – As the race for the Senate seat heats up, campaign signs for Beto O'Rourke and Sen. Ted Cruz are visible on front lawns across Texas.

However, some supporters are going to extra lengths for their candidate. One local man said he witnessed a woman stealing a sign in his front lawn.

“I’m looking out and I see a car slow down in front of my house,” said an O’Rourke supporter who wishes to remain anonymous.

The man said he saw the woman get out, open the back door of her car and grab his Beto sign.

“I was thankful that when she pulled up the sign a lot of dirt came with it when she threw it inside of her brand new BMW,” said the man.

Beto's black and white signs have become a staple of the candidate's uphill bid to unseat Cruz. The representative from El Paso has continued to pack town halls across Texas gaining national attention.

“I look at Ted Cruz, a man who can’t stand up for his family. How is he going to stand up for me?” said O’Rourke supporter Al Jones.

While the Senate seat hasn’t been held by a Democrat in 25 years, O'Rourke's popularity has conservatives sounding the alarm. Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell became the latest republican to publicly state that Cruz has a difficult fight ahead of him.

Still, conservatives say they will show up at the polls to back Cruz.

“I think people have been getting very involved, you know, with the last year or so, with the political climate that we have had. I think more people than ever have been getting involved. I think we have a good chance,” said Cruz supporter Dorian Chavez.
