AUSTIN, Texas – Two people were rescued from the Barton Creek Greenbelt Sunday night amid heavy rains.

Around 9:30 p.m. Austin/Travis County EMS was called to the greenbelt to rescue two people who were possibly lost.

At first, emergency crews were unable to access them due to the high creek levels. Eventually, a STAR flight helicopter saw one of the victims signaling with a flashlight and helped lead rescuers to them. The people were reportedly not injured.

Authorities don't advise going to the greenbelt after dark, but recommend that, if you must, having a charged cell phone, flashlight, and a whistle are essential.
