SAN ANTONIO - Heavy rain in the early morning hours Sunday left a section of George Road in Castle Hills Forest completely underwater.

Within a span of five hours, the low water crossing near Northwest Military rose 2.5 feet.

It was a sight that long-time resident Daniel Player has seen before.

"It floods here quite a bit when we have our heavy rains," Player said.

Much of water claiming tree branches, leaves and a route many drivers travel on.

"You couldn't do this. It's three feet deep. You can't do this, even in a truck," said Jim Jarmon, resident.

At least five cars traveled through while ignoring barricades placed on the road.

"I've seen lots of people literally get out and move the barricades and then drive through," Player said.

Other drivers, Player said, just run the barricades over.

"I've seen cars stuck here many times, you know, their engines stall out or whatever,” he said.

Earlier this week Jarmon reported a car that got swept away in the water crossing. A week later the car still remained.

"I pointed over to it and that's when the fire trucks showed up and the police came and they went to go check the car and found nobody in it," Jarmon said.

Though the rain appeared to have calmed down by Sunday afternoon, water on the roads remained. Neighbors along George Road hope drivers traveling through use common sense and don't pass through.

"Life is too short. You can take a break and drive around and figure out a different way," Player said.
