AUSTIN, Texas – KGSR radio has a new name to highlight Austin’s historic television show and music festival.

The radio station KGSR is now Austin City Limits Radio after an announcement on Thursday.

The name change is the result of a five-year licensing agreement with ACL. Station management said the goal is share great music with no limits.

Emmis Austin Radio, the station’s owner, described radio playlist as “bold and genre-jumping.”

The station kicked things off by playing Whiskey River, the first song Willie Nelson sang on the pilot episode of Austin City Limits in 1974.

Austin City Limits Radio is on channels 93.3 and 97.1.
