AUSTIN, Texas -- DPS is stepping up their traffic patrols this Labor Day weekend.

As always, authorities are looking for drunken drivers, people speeding, or checking for those not wearing seat belts.

The Austin Police Department also has its no refusal policy in effect from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night through Monday. That means if you get pulled over and refuse a breathalyzer, an on-call judge will authorize a search warrant to get a blood draw.

Anyone that plans to drink is encouraged to make sure to arrange alternate transportation and drink responsibly.
