TEXAS – President Donald Trump tweeted Friday afternoon that he is coming to Texas to campaign for Sen. Ted Cruz.

Cruz is in a tougher-than-usual reelection fight against Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke of El Paso.

“I will be doing a major rally for Senator Ted Cruz in October. I’m picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find,” Trump tweeted. “As you know, Ted has my complete and total endorsement. His opponent is a disaster for Texas — weak on Second Amendment, Crime, Borders, Military, and Vets!”

Cruz previously said that he wanted the president to come to Texas to campaign on his behalf ahead of the November midterms.

Once bitter rivals, Cruz ended up endorsing Trump during the 2016 presidential election after losing to him in the primary.
