AUSTIN, Texas -- UT has landed a $60 million grant for a new supercomputer.

It'll be the fastest computer at any U.S. university and one of the most powerful in the world.

The new system, known as Frontera, will allow researchers to make discoveries in all fields of science. To match what Frontera can do in just one second, a person would have to perform one calculation every second for a billion years.

Frontera will be located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus and will launch next year.
