LLANO COUNTY, Texas – [UPDATE 8/26/18 12:49 p.m.] The Texas A&M Forest Service said the Airport Fire in Llano County has reached 100 percent containment. Officials say the fire burned 311 acres.

ORIGINAL STORY -- People were evacuated from their homes for several hours on Saturday due to a large fire in Llano County.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. a wildfire broke out east of the Horseshoe Bay Resort Airport.

The fire is estimated to be nearly 500 acres with 90 percent containment. Authorities said that forward progression of the fire has been stopped and there have been no reports of damaged structures or injuries.

Crews are working to increase containment using heavy equipment and fire engines.

The Llano County Office of Emergency Management said that approximately 150 homes were evacuated from three neighborhoods: the Highlands, the Uplands, and Horseshoe Bay South. The residents will be allowed back into their homes at 10 p.m.

During the evacuation, residents were sent to the Quail Point Communty Center. The American Red Cross was at the center to assist evacuees.

The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office reported that multiple agencies were working the fire. The smell of smoke as well as falling ash has been reported as far north as Hoover Valley.
