WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas – Two people are dead after a helicopter crash in Williamson County Tuesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A small helicopter went down off of Country Road 346 in Williamson County just after 12:30 p.m., according to Sheriff Robert Chody. It is believed that the helicopter flew out of the Georgetown Airport.

At first an active electrical power line prevented crews from approaching the crash. Sheriff Chody said that authorities initially believe the helicopter may have clipped the power lines, causing the crash. However, the NTSB will handle the investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The victims have not been identified at this point in time.

The FAA, NTSB, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and Texas DPS are involved in the investigation.
