AUSTIN – Central Texans with HIV will soon have a new place to call their medical home.

AIDS Services of Austin gave us a first look into the new Moody Medical Clinic Monday morning. It'll focus on providing HIV testing and treatment, along with primary care to those who have AIDS or are at risk of getting infected.

While it's a similar setup with other clinics with exam rooms - a nurse's station and laboratory - it also has a shower and laundry room for patients to use. Many of its clients are homeless.

The clinic's director, Ana Herrera, stressed the importance of keeping wait times short and following up with their patients.

"It's really important to be able to catch someone and intervene before they are exposed to infection so we can help prevent disease and help keep them healthy," she said.

While the clinic isn't accepting new patients until it opens in September, anyone who needs an appointment to get the PrEP pill may sign up here
