BUDA, Texas -- The City of Buda on Monday distributed an informational alert warning of the discovery of a rabid bat.

According to the alert, the dead bat was discovered on the ground in the 400 block of Crooked Creek Road at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Aug. 14.

The bat was tested by the Department of State Health Services and results came back positive for rabies. There was no immediate indication that anyone directly came into contact with the bat prior to its discovery.
