AUSTIN, Texas -- Austin police on Monday reported a man who is accused of attacking another man with a hatchet during a dispute was taken into custody on Aug. 15.

According to an Austin Police Department report, on Aug. 15, the victim was searching for money his mother had lost in the parking lot of the Booker T. Washington Terrace apartment complex, located at 905 Bedford St.

Meanwhile, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jarron McMillon, was inside a car with his girlfriend when he became agitated with the victim.

McMillon exited the car, and he and the victim started fighting. McMillon then walked back to his car and retrieved a small hatchet. The hatchet was in a sheath. McMillon then started chasing the victim with the hatchet, the report states.

The victim ran from McMillon, the report states, and McMillon then retrieved a gun from his car. The victim said McMillon waved the gun around but never pointed it at anyone.

According to the victim, McMillon then got back into his car and tried to pin the victim between his car and another car. The victim said McMillon then purposely tried to hit him and his aunt with his car. Officers arrived and detained McMillon.

McMillon is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
