The fire started on the second story of a building at the Polo Club Apartments. Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be improperly discarded smoking material on the balcony.

No injuries were reported, but 21 people were displaced. The American Red Cross is currently assisting those residents. Thanks to Austin Firefighter Kyle Langhorst, a cat named "Sophia" was reunited with her owner.
