AUSTIN, Texas — A Williamson County woman is accused of stealing more than $70,000 from the Austin Police Society.

According to an affidavit, Karolina Camara was the treasurer of the Austin Polish Society. On May 19, the president of the society, Margaret Meub, stated that Camara has used the society’s funds for personal use. Meub said that an investigation of the society’s funds showed that between Dec. 11, 2014 and April 30, 2018, Camara wrote 54 checks to herself and one to her husband.

Camara is charged with theft, a third-degree felony.
