SAN ANTONIO -- Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood said an inmate featured in a new Netflix series deserves to be where he is: in jail.

LaHood was interviewed by the filmmakers of a series called "I Am a Killer," mainly to help tell the story of Kenneth Foster.

Foster was once an inmate on death row. He was convicted of capital murder for driving a getaway car carrying that man who had just shot and killed LaHood's brother Michael in 1996. Foster's sentence was commuted to life in prison in 2007 by then Gov. Rick Perry. Since then, his family has continued to push for his release, saying he's a changed man.

"Regardless of what some people want to say out there, I have forgiven him. My actions have shown that. I don't harbor any ill will toward him, so I think there's a lot of messages in this film. When we go through tragedy, when we go through trials in our lives whether it is self-induced or things that happen to us, your life doesn't have to be over,” said LaHood.

But LaHood, who shared his journey after the murder, said Foster is still not telling the truth of what happened that night.  The documentary is now available on Netflix.
