NORTH CAROLINA -- State Superintendent Mark Johnson announced Tuesday that the Department of Public Instruction is providing new Apple iPads to every K-3 reading teacher in the state, as part of the state’s Read to Achieve program.

  • Every K-3 public school teacher is receiving an iPad this year.
  • The iPads will allow teachers to teach and monitor student progress.
  • The tablets have already been delivered to schools, in time for the new school year.

The department believes the iPads will allow teachers to teach and monitor student progress more easily.

“Having more of these tools in each classroom will reduce burdens on teachers, giving them more time to focus on instruction,” said Johnson.

The iPads were purchased in June and have been delivered to schools across the state.

They will contain a selection of early-literacy applications.
