LIBERTY HILL, Texas -- The Williamson County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday reported a case of cruelty to livestock is being investigated.

On July 18, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Livestock Unit received a complaint about the neglect of cattle at a property located in the 19000 block of W. SH 29in Liberty Hill. The 180-acre property extends into Burnet County.

Deputies located what was described as a “boneyard,” with carcasses resembling the remains of about nine cattle.

Deputies returned on July 31 and investigated a nearby property where they located seven cattle that were drawn and emaciated. They also located a dead cow trapped under a barbed wire fence.

In all, 35 cows, one bull and 46 calves were seized.

The livestock were taken to Cameron Auction Barn where they are receiving veterinary care, food and water.

Charges are pending against the unnamed property owner. A court appearance has been scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 8.
