AUSTIN, Texas -- Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke is on the road again.

Over the next five weeks, he plans to host nearly 100 events in more than 50 Texas cities.

On Tuesday he spoke at two town hall events in West Texas.

"Before we're Republicans and Democrats, we're Texans, we're Americans, we're human beings. We want the best for one another, we're each willing to give it our best if we are given the opportunity," O'Rourke said.

The congressman has raised more money than his opponent, Sen. Ted Cruz. However, Cruz still has a lead in the latest polls. Last week, Cruz challenged O'Rourke to five debates over the next three months. Cruz's campaign proposed cities and specific debate topics for each event.

O'Rourke said he's looking forward to the debates and even suggested a sixth one in his home town of El Paso.
