CEDAR PARK, Texas – A CapMetro bus reportedly caught on fire in Cedar Park on Tuesday.
Around 6:40 a.m. the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that toll road 183A was closed northbound at Scottsdale Drive while crews worked to put out the flames. The incident was south of New Hope.
Cedar Park police said that traffic was being detoured to the 1431 exit until the fire was cleared.
So far, there is no word on what caused the fire. Capital Metro spokeswoman Mariette Hummel said all 28 of the 9100 series buses are being looked at in the wake of the fire out of an abundance of caution. Hummel said there is no reason to believe they are at risk of the same mechanical failure, however.
No one was injured in the fire. There were no riders on the bus at the time of the fire.
