LEON VALLEY, Texas -- The City of Leon Valley has authorized spending $20,000 on an internal investigation of its fire department.

Council members voted Tuesday night, approving the funds for an investigation into the Leon Valley Fire Department's Safety and Administrative policies. At the meeting, city leaders said the investigation needed to be done immediately, but would not say what the concerns were. They only said the subject involved a personnel matter and could not be discussed in a public setting.

They did say that the investigation is already underway.

"Since it was a safety issue we wanted to find a trained expert that could come the following week. [It is] time sensitive because there's safety that's being questioned. And we wanted to ensure that employees are safe at all times,” said Kelly Kuenstler, Leon Valley City Manager.
