TEXAS -- Some of the world's major companies call Texas home and more are moving in. A recent business report shows the Lone Star State is the best place for business.

Texas claimed the top spot in CNBC's "America's Top States for Business" rankings this year, and it's the first state to win that distinction four times.

The study measured states by infrastructure, technology, innovation and workforce. By the latter, The Texas Workforce Commission confirmed that Texas has added over 350,000 jobs in the past year and it's expected to keep rising. In fact, 1 in 7 jobs created nationwide are in Texas.

While the energy industry is credited with much of the growth, commissioners say each industry had its share.

"So while our energy sector has increased 60 percent since last year, really, 10 out of our 11 industries have seen job growth over the year and over the month," said Commissioner Ruth Hughs. "In fact, in May, it was education and health sciences that had the largest growth, creating 8,100 jobs."

The Workforce Commission credits lower taxes, skilled workers and incentive programs for attracting businesses to move and stay in the state.

Texas is currently home to over 50 Fortune 500 companies.
