WASHINGTON -- Deportations of reunited immigrant families are on hold for a week.

A federal judge made the ruling on Monday.

The decision gives the American Civil Liberties Union and U.S. Attorneys time to decide whether to make the grace period permanent. The ACLU said parents should be allowed one week to decide whether to take their children with them or leave them in the United States.

Before the ruling, some families were reportedly deported immediately after being reunited.
