AUSTIN, Texas -- Austin Fire on Monday morning reported a gas line that was hit by a crew has prompted a small evacuation.

According to the department, a gas line located on Needham Lane was struck by a crew and ignited. Homes located on either side of the line were evacuated.

The houses were being protected until the gas lines could be shut off. After 11 a.m. the department reported the gas had been shut off and that no damage occurred. 

Needham Lane is located in the Circle Ranch area, in the southwest part of town.
