AUSTIN, Texas – A fallen Austin Fire Department cadet was honored in a special way.

Devon Coney died last month after having a medical emergency at the training academy.

To honor his memory, members of Cadet Class 126 set aside one of their bundles. They commemorated the cadet by adding his name and identification number to the bundles.

Now, current and future members training at the academy will carry the memorial to Cadet Coney.

“His class also continues to honor his memory and service, maintaining his spot in the line every day,” posted the Austin Fire Department on Facebook. “No man gets left behind.”

Coney was laid to rest on July 2.
