AUSTIN, Texas – Traffic was backed up in South Austin after a vehicle fire in the westbound lanes of Highway 71 Friday morning. 

Lanes of Hwy 71 were blocked off with drivers being funneled past the vehicle fire in two open lanes.

The backup was reportedly between South 1^st Street and Interstate 35.

Traffic reporter LeAnn Wallace urged drivers to avoid Hwy 71.
