TEXAS – A dusty gust from Africa’s Sahara Desert is making landfall on the Texas coast.

The dust cloud traveled across the Atlantic and into the east Caribbean earlier this week. The cloud, referred to as African dust, will create a hazy weekend, blowing minimally in Central Texas.
The cloud is a combination of sand and dust from the Sahara desert, which covers most of North Africa. The dust gust travels across the world every year.
According to Spectrum News meteorologist Mary Wasson, Austin and San Antonio might see visible haze and increased irritation for asthma and allergy sufferers.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality shows air quality in Austin and San Antonio as moderate for Monday.
