NATIONWIDE – Delta Airlines will no longer allow pit bulls on flights, even if they are service animals.

The Airline announced that the ban is the result of safety concerns after several employees were bitten.

The ban also prohibits travelers from bringing more than one emotional support animal on flights.

According to Delta, since 2016 there has been an 84 percent increase in incidents related to service animals.

Every day, Delta flights have an estimated 700 service animals on board and 250,000 annually. Delta claims people have tried to fly with comfort animals including turkeys, possums, spiders and snakes.

The restriction takes effect on July 10.
