AUSTIN, Texas – A swarm of bees attacked a woman and a dog in Central Austin Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 900 block of E. 53rd 1/2 Street around 5:30 p.m., according to Austin-Travis County EMS. 

The woman, believed to be in her 50s was transported to Seton Medical Center with serious, not expected to be life-threatening injuries. The dog, according to ATCEMS, is fine. 

The public is still  encouraged to avoid the area and to remain inside their homes until the incident location has been deemed safe. A bee keeper has been requested.
