AUSTIN, Texas – A falcon who calls the University of Texas at Austin Tower home lives 302 feet in the air.

She has been deemed “Tower Girl” as people statewide watch her come and go on a year-round live stream.

The falcon recently laid eggs, but it's not anticipated there will be babies. According to UT scientists, the falcon's mate was last seen in February, so if the eggs were viable they would have hatched in April.

Laying eggs is normal behavior for a female bird, even if they're not fertilized. Scientists aren't sure why the eggs laid by the bird this year and in previous years haven't hatched. They said it may be that the bird is infertile and cannot produce young. It's also possible that her eggs were not fertilized by any male.

Scientists at UT’s Biodiversity Center keep an eye on the falcon and study her interaction with the Texas ecosystems.

Texans are now waiting with baited breath for the newest addition to the 40 acres.
