AUSTIN, Texas -- A new medical program at St. David's Children's Hospital will help treat pediatric patients with music.

MyMusicRx is the new program that will bring the healing power of live music to the bedsides of sick children.

Local musicians volunteer to undergo music medicine training before using their talents to care for kids. St. David's has a partnership with the Children's Cancer Association to bring their flagship program to Central Texas.

“We know music makes everyone smile, singing those silly little folk songs and those things with children. The more we can make these children's day and make them smile it just seemed like a natural fit to bring it to a children's hospital,” said Misty Rowlison, with St. David’s Children’s Hospital.

St. David's is the first hospital in Texas to implement the bedside music service for patients. For more information, visit the MyMusicRx website.
